I do not think Immigration is about race anymore...People are now seeing immigration as something which takes away their jobs/opportunities (yes it does at least the low skilled).. people are also under impression that more immigration means more welfare spending, more taxes (even if it is false) so once people start thinking in this direction then everyone starts to care about immigration and they put pressure on the govt. That is where the anti immigration groups target...they make people aware/think in this direction... most of them understood they cant play the culture or religion card anymore as people are not taking religion serious anymore.
