I had to take a Air Side Transit Visa and it is pretty straight forward. Kakapothe visa processing will take 12 business days. If you have that kind of time , go for it. US lo boarding pass icchetappude check chestharu neeku valid stamping undha lehdaa ni. I had to specifically show them my transit visa when they said they cannot give me my boarding pass as I had an expired H1B. So make sure you get your Air Side Transit Visa done before flying. It will cost you around $50 for the visa and $50 for the to and fro over night shipping. Quote

Air side transit visa will work there. Here is the link : https://www.gov.uk/transit-visa/direct-airside-transit-visa where it says You might need a Direct Airside Transit visa (DATV) if you’re from outside the European Economic Area (EEA) and Switzerland and you: will be changing flights in the UK on your way to another country If TS gets a DATV he should be good. Bokka padedhi em untundhi... TS ni anavasaranga bhayapettadam thappithey. @Hummer : Go ahead and apply for a DATV and you should be good. You can also check with the staff who issue boarding pass at the counter ( I did that). They come across this issue on a daily basis. And you know what.. British Airways allows you to book your tickets even if you visa is expired as they clearly mention asking you to check the visa rules to change flights with Gov agencies. Hope this helps. Quote
