H1b Transfer after I94 expiration and change of employer

Hello,

I'm in a critical situation, I 94 expired, Extension in the process with an RFE but lost the job with current Client and RFE is related to that, My company A is saying that they will respond RFE even if I'm not working there. To me, this seems to be direct denial, meanwhile, if I apply for transfer to company B, can I able to work for company B just with the receipt notice? Since my I94 expired if my current petition with company A denies, will I be out of status? or as I applied transfer with Company B before denial, will my status continues, please advise. Thank you very much for your suggestions.
