I don't know shops around chennai. Never shopped but i buy online.

Nallis - Mumbai is a very good shop compared to Hyd.

But Better bet you can get fantastic ones at Nallis, Kumaran, RMKV like stores in T Nagar... Nallis is one of the oldest even can try Pothys & chennai silks all are located near by in T Nagar with in walkable distance...

T.Nagar vellandi , akkada chala stores untayi , nallis , chennai silks are ok , Pothys lo konnanu chala sarlu , lots of options and cost ki manchi quality vachayi , was happy back then , nenu chennai velli oka 4 years avutundi so there may be lot change now

AS Babu Sah in kancheepuram, nice collections ... Last month konnaru maa inlaws .... only shop in kanchi and very crowded .....not far from chennai though .. cheaper compared to Chennai( T Nagar)
