in this part of the world, people are identified by their region...tamilian as in Tamil Nadu absolutely makes sense..same like telanganodu in telangana and andhrodu in andhra...

Kannada maatladevallani kannadiga antaremo? Tamil maatlade vallani tamilian, Malayalam maatlade vallani malayalee antarani anukuntunna.. northern states aathcare. They don’t share a lot with South Indian states. Just because they were united for tax purposes by the British doesn’t mean that they share anything with us.

I don't have a tiff with people calling themselves Telanganites, or calling their language by a separate name, if  they wish to.

They can form whatever group identity they are comfy with.

the problem with identities comes up only when one tries to weaponize it for politics. (not blaming you, but yours is a reaction to the kind of weaponization that happened earlier ani I know)

otherwise people don't really care about identities.
