It happens over time, when you create joint bank accounts it will be helpful to know passwords. Also when you MS together it's easier if you know each other's CC numbers. And you need Gmail account so you don't forget all 101 passwords associated with the Gmail accounts. Knowing each other's password has to do more with trust and less to do with marriage.
