Yes, data science focuses more on the numbers more than the consequences of prediction. A true scientist is more interested in the consequence of the prediction and how it enables him to understand the Universe.

Organization is universe in this context and data represent the behavior of the company. By understanding the data, scientist in question guides the company by predicting the next loss or improvement organization should make.

Do you happen to watch How Universe works? Universe is all of space and time which is an unknown where we are still trying to get lot of answers on how we ever exist. Data Scientist is also trying to do the same thing, where data is served as space and time is life of the project.
