Devudu ante as per Hinduism..its a way of life..how to lead a successful life and coexist with other life on earth..we respect every aspect of life on earth...respect knowledge, wealth, other life like ganesha(elephant), snake (naga) etc..

Ganesha is not in the idol up there, it is in the people around the idol. People need to imbibe his wisdom from his stories to help lead a better life. It should provide us with wisdom to save a fellow human being, not become foolish enough to worship an idol big enough to put each other in danger. 

Hinduism has the concept of idol worship for people who cannot comprehend the wisdom from epics without idols or their characters. We need to imbibe the stories into our daily life and give up the concept of extravagant idols and idol worship.
