There used to be many poor brahmins actually, off late like from last 5-6 years, they are earning good after there is increase in life standard of common people who paying money for them. 

You can still argue, why should they be paid so much money for some 2-3 hours of blah blah comparing to someone who work in fields or somethin, but that's different topic.
