Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy has sacked the controversial managing director of A.P. Med Tech Zone, Jitendra Sharma, who has been facing allegations of large-scale misappropriation of funds.

Deccan Chronicle, in its November 30 report “Large scale financial scam in Med Tech Zone unearthed,” had highlighted the financial and procedural irregularities committed by Jitendra Sharma with the blessings of senior bureaucrat and the then principal secretary (health) Poonam Malakondaiah.

Sources said that senior officials from health department had cautioned the government against possible legal issues arising out of Sharma’s re-instatement, pending enquiry.

The Chief Minister was briefed about the director general of vigilance and enforcement’s complaint against Sharma for hiding crucial information and avoiding the probe.

Industries principal secretary Rajat Bhargav will act as the managing director and Sharma will be an advisor.

Sources said the Chief Minister’s principal secretary Praveen Prakash suggested Mr Jagan Mohan Reddy to restrict Sharma’s role as advisor without giving any administrative or financial powers.
