India's COVID-19 death count rises to 308 after 35 new fatalities 

The death count due to the corona virus pandemic rose to 308 on Monday after 35 new fatalities were reported, while the number of cases climbed to 9,152, according to the Union Health Ministry.

The number of active corona virus cases stood at 7,987, as many as 856 people have been cured and discharged, while one had migrated. The total number of cases include 72 foreign nationals, according to the ministry data.

Nearly 150 doctors and nurses quarantined in Max hospital in Saket after two patients test positive

As many as 150 medical staffers, including doctors and nurses, of Max Hospital in Delhi's Saket colony have been placed under self-isolation after coming in contact with two patients admitted for heart procedures but later tested positive for the novel corona virus, reported News18.

Madurai's Thabaal Thanthi Nagar declared containment zone

Thabaal Thanthi Nagar in Madurai has been declared 'containment zone' for the novel coorna virus on Monday, ANI reported. The movement of people in the area was restricted to avoid COVID-19  transmission.

The state reported 106 fresh COVID-19 cases taking the overall tally to 1,075.

Assam's COVID-19 tally at 30 after Tablighi Jamaat attendee tests positive in Dhubri

The total number of confirmed cases of the novel coronavirus in Assam climbed to 30 on Monday after an individual from Dhubri tested positive for the respiratory disease, said state health minister Himanta Biswa Sarma. 

Sarma further said that the fresh case was linked to the Tablighi Jamaat event in Delhi's Nizam-mudin Markaz.

Dharavi registers 47 COVID-19 cases after four more test positive, death count at five

With four fresh cases of the novel corona virus reported in Dharavi, in south Mumbai, the COVID-19 tally in the densely populated slum areas climbed to 47 on Monday, ANI reported.

One death was also reported, taking the toll to five  in the area.

Delhi Police ASI tests positive for COVID-19, several cops in quarantine

A 56-year-old assistant-sub inspector of the Delhi Police has tested positive for corona virus, police said on Sunday. The ASI is a resident of Shyam Nagar, Okhla Phase-1, they said.

He is the third policeman in the national capital who has tested positive for COVID-19, police said.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (Southwest) Devender Arya said, "The assistant sub-inspector posted at the Safdarjung Enclave police station was tested for corona virus after he showed symptoms. His reports arrived on Sunday wherein he was declared positive."

Commissioner in Visakhapatnam resumes office within 22 days of giving birth to fight COVID crisis

Setting an example during the COVID-19 crisis, G Srijana, Commissioner of Greater Visakhapatnam Municipal Corporation (GVMC), resumed working within just 22 days of giving birth to her child.

"There is no particular reason for which I returned but these are extraordinary circumstances that we are living in. It is like a call of duty for me. As a human being, it is my response to be of some help to the administration. I felt that this is the time we should all stand together and be of strength to each other," Srijana told ANI in Visakhapatnam.

Over 1 lakh individuals screened for COVID-19 in Agra

As many as 1,65,000 people have been screened so far for the novel corona virus in Agra a police official said.

A Satish Ganesh, Inspector General Agra Range said: "Administration is working continuously on increasing the capacity of isolation wards. Wherever we found positive cases, we are conducting a door-to-door survey in those areas. Till date we have screened 1,65,000 people in the city."

Two deaths, 22 new cases in Gujarat

Gujarat reported 22 new confirmed corona virus cases, taking the state tally to 538, including 47 discharged. Two deaths - one each in Ahmedabad and Vadodara - were also reported taking the toll in Gujarat to 26.

It has been made mandatory to wear a mask in public in Ahmedabad, failing which the violator faces a fine of Rs 5,000 or three years of jail.

35 healthcare workers tested positive in Delhi

A total of 35 health workers have tested positive for coronavirus in various hospitals in Delhi, according to CNN-News18.

The break-up of the number of health workers under treatment are:

  • Ganga Ram Hospital - 2

Indore reports 328 COVID-19 cases, 33 deaths 

Indore reported 22 new positive cases of the novel corona virus and one death on Monday, bringing the overall tally to 328 and the death count to 33, Chief Medical and Health Officer Dr Praveen Jadia tells ANI.
