Man in Dharavi arrested for hoarding PPEs

The Mumbai Police was quoted by ANI as saying that the Crime branch on Tuesday arrested a man in Dharavi for illegally hoarding 81,000 three-ply surgical masks and seized stock worth Rs 12,15,000, approximately.

Only one new COVID-19 case reported in Kerala today

Kerala chief minister Pinarayi Vijayan said that only one new COVID-19 case was reported in the state on Wednesday, taking the total number of positive cases in the state to 387, of which 167 are active.

India cases rise to 11,933

India's total number of corona virus positive cases rise to 11,933, of which 10,197 are active cases, 1,344 have been cured, discharged or migrated and 392 have died, as per the latest update from Ministry of Health and Family Welfare.

Centre classifies districts into 3 categories based on COVID-19 threat, identifies 170 hot spots

 The government has identified 170 districts across the country as hotspots, while 207 other districts are to be treated as potential hots pots. However, the government has said that districts where cases are being reported but are not hotspots also need to work proactively and initiate containment strategies, the Health Ministry has said.

 "There are around 400 districts of India where coronavirus has not entered. We have been able to pin point where the virus is," says Union Minister Harsh Virdhan. The government had earlier identified 170 districts as COVID-19 hotspots and 207 districts as potential hotspots, Hotspots are those districts which are reporting more number of cases or where the rate of growth of COVID-19 cases is high. 

Maharashtra, Karnataka are in 'bit of trouble', says Harsh Vardhan

Union health minister Harsh Vardhan said that Bihar wasn't as badly affected by the corona virus pandemic as Maharashtra and Karnataka.

"Bihar isn't in so much trouble right now, but definitely, Maharashtra is in a bit of trouble, particularly Mumbai, and also Karnataka. But I was happy to see confidence of three chief secretaries and more particularly when Maharashtra CS said with confidence 'we'll take care of it'."

We have stocked all 3 layer masks and PPE kits and have continuous supply of the same. We have sufficient stock of all this.

There is no drug of choice for this virus yet. We are researching on a vaccine. We are treating and discharging people. There was a C-section today for a positive case and we checked the baby also for the virus and tested negative.
It's a supportive and symptomatic treatment.

We have procured medicines and IV fluids well in advance.

We have task forces and special IPS and IAS officers to look after each district. New measures are taken everyday.

We have 26 labs. We have over one lakh PCR kits. Tata has also contributes PCR kits. We have a efficient supply chain also running.

There is no community spread.

42 police personnel tested for COVID-19 so far

According to think tank organization Indian Police Foundation as of Thursday morning, 42 police / CAPF personnel have tested COVID-19 positive and more than 350 are under isolation/home quarantine.

25 fresh cases take Rajasthan's COVID-19 tally past 1,000-mark

The total number of positive cases of corona virus in Rajasthan reached 1,101 after 25 fresh COVID-19 cases were reported on Thursday at 9 am, said media reports. 

According to reports, 11 cases were reported in Tonk,10 in Jodhpur, two in Jhunjhunu while one each in Bikaner and Ajmer.

Karnataka's COVID-19 toll at 13 after 66-yr-old succumbs to infection 

The death of a senior citizen in Bengaluru on Thursday took Covid-19 related fatalities to 13 in Karnataka, said the health department. " A 66-year old man infected by coronavirus dies in Bengaluru, death toll in Karnataka rises to 13, said the state health department.

With 19 more individuals testing positive for the novel coronavirus on Wednesday, the total number of case rose to 279 in the state.

Three-day complete lockdown issued in Raipur

A complete lockdown has been issued in Raipur for three days, starting from 5 pm on 16 April to 5 pm on 19 April, said the District Relations Office. Vegetable markets and shops will remain shut and only emergency services will ply.

"Only medical shops, milk booths, petrol pumps, LPG gas outlets and online home delivery services will remain open," said the District Relations Office.

Confirmed COVID-19 cases in Bihar reach 72

Two more individuals have tested positive for COVID-19 in Bihar, bringing the total number of cases in the state to 72, a top official said on Thursday. The fresh cases were reported from Patna and Vaishali districts, he said.

Reports of a 60-year-old man from Patna and 35-year-old man from Vaishali, which came in late Wednesday night, were positive, according to Principal Secretary, Health, Sanjay Kumar.

42 new COVID-19 cases in Indore take Madhya Pradesh tally to 980

With 42 more people testing positive for the novel coronavirus in Indore, the COVID-19 tally in Madhya Pradesh rose to 980, health officials said on Thursday.

Two more deaths were also reported from Indore late Wednesday night, taking the toll in the state to 55. The viral infection has now spread in 26 out of total 52 districts in the state.

414 COVID-19 deaths, confirmed cases at 12,380

According to the data released by the Union health ministry on Thursday, the death count due to the novel corona virus rose to 414 while the number of positive cases reached 12,380. 

 

As many as 1,488 people have been cured and discharged, and one has migrated, the ministry said, which takes the number of active cases to 10,477.

Dip in new COVID-19 cases in Maharshtra and Delhi 

The number of fresh Covid-19 cases dropped on Wednesday in Maharashtra and Delhi, the two worst affected states, even as 29 more deaths were recorded in the last 24 hours across the country, taking the toll to 422.

While Delhi recorded just 17 new cases, its lowest single-day tally in April, Maharashtra reported 232 — the lowest figure in the last six days. Nine new Covid-19 deaths were reported in Maharashtra and two in Delhi in the last 24 hours.
