Iran says no longer at red status, reports 93 new Covid-19 deaths

Iran's health ministry said on Friday that the virus-hit country was no longer at "red" status as it announced another 93 deaths from its Covid-19 outbreak.

Ministry spokesman Kianoush Jahanpour said the novel coronavirus fatalities recorded in the past 24 hours took Iran's overall death toll to 5,574. Jahanpour also announced 1,168 new cases of coronavirus infection, taking the country's total to 88,194. (AFP)

MHA says institutional quarantine needed in Mumbai's Dharavi

MHA joint secretary PS Srivastava said that in Mumbai's Dharavi, there is a need for institutional quarantine of close to 2,000 people. 

 

Five new cases, one death reported in Dharavi today

Six new coronavirus cases were reported on Friday in Mumbai's Dharavi, taking the total number of cases to 220 in the densely-populated area. Additionally, one death was also reported, taking the toll to 14.

No new COVID-19 case reported in Chandigarh

The Chandigarh health department said that no new corona virus case was reported on Friday. The number of COVID-19 cases stands at 27 in Chandigarh, including 15 cured patients.

No death has been reported in the Union Territory due to the infection. 638 samples have been tested so far, the statement said.

One new COVID-19 case reported in Uttarakhand

The Uttarakhand health department on Friday said that only one new corona virus case was reported in the state as of 6 pm, taking the total number of cases in the state to 47.

Gujarat reports 191 new corona virus cases in last 24 hours

Gujarat reported 191 new corona virus cases on Friday, which took the state's total count to 2,815. Out of them, 2,394 are stable, 29 are on ventilator. The state's corona virus death toll has reached 127.

36-year-old doctor in Mumbai's Govandi area dies of Covid-19

A 36- year general physician, who consulted at two private hospitals in Govandi, died due to Covid-19 on Thursday. He is likely to have contracted the virus from a patient at the hospital. The doctor didn’t have any co-morbid conditions and died of Acute Respiratory Distress Syndrome due to Covid 19 with multiple organ failure. He was declared dead at around 1:55 am on Thursday at SL Raheja Hospital. The doctor started showing symptoms since April 13, such as loose motions and breathlessness.

111 new Covid-19 take Uttar Pradesh's total to 1,621

With 111 new Covid-19 cases, Uttar Pradesh's total count has gone up to 1,621. Meanwhile, 25 coronavirus deaths have taken place in the state so far (1 each in Basti, Varanasi, Bulandshahar, Lucknow, 4 in Meerut, 5 in Moradabad, 1 in Firozabad, 7 in Agra, 3 in Kanpur, and 1 in Aligarh).

Plasma therapy to begin in Maharashtra

Maharashtra minister Amit Deshmukh said that plasma therapy is likely to begin in Maharashtra's Mumbai, Pune, Nagpur, and Solapur soon.

138 cases, 3 deaths reported in Delhi today

The Delhi health department said that 138 new cases of COVID-19 and three deaths have been reported in the National Capital on Friday, taking the total number of cases to 2,514 and toll to 53. Out of the total positive cases, 1,604 are active. A total of 857 patients have been discharged till date.
