Kool_SRG Posted April 26, 2020 Author Report Posted April 26, 2020 Toll in Uttar Pradesh climbs to 30 With three COVID-19 deaths reported on Sunday, the death toll due to the disease climbed to 30 in Uttar Pradesh, officials said. Of the three fresh deaths, two were reported from Agra while one was from Meerut, Dr Vikasendu Agrawal, Joint Director and State Surveillance Officer, Integrated Disease Surveillance Programme (IDSP), said in a statement issued here. Agra has accounted for 10 COVID-19 deaths, Moradabad six, Meerut five, Kanpur three and Basti, Varanasi, Bulandshahr, Lucknow, Firozabad and Aligarh have reported a fatality each. On Sunday, 80 fresh COVID-19 cases were reported from the state, with Kanpur Nagar and Saharanpur recording 21 cases each, followed by 11 in Varanasi. So far, 1,873 coronavirus cases have been reported from 58 of the 75 districts in Uttar Pradesh. As many as 327 COVID-19 patients have been cured and discharged from hospitals, including 66 on Sunday, Agarwal said. The count of active cases in the state stands at 1,516, he added. Quote

As per a report in the NewsMinute, Kumar announced that 80-year-old father, two brothers, their wives and one nephew had caught the disease. "All of my family members who tested positive are stable and not having any complications. They are being treated in Kurnool Government General Hospital (GGH) which has all the required facilities, They will be finishing the isolation as per the protocol. Kool_SRG Posted April 26, 2020 Author Report Posted April 26, 2020 COVID-19 patient discharged after receiving plasma therapy in Delhi's Max Hospital A private hospital in Delhi claimed that a corona virus patient, who was administered plasma therapy for the first time in the facility, was discharged on Sunday after being completely cured. The 49-year-old man had tested positive for COVID-19 on 4 April and was admitted to Max Hospital, Saket, it said in a statement. As his condition deteriorated, he was put on ventilator support on 8 April, the hospital added. When the patient showed no signs of improvement, his family requested for administration of plasma therapy on compassionate grounds, it said, adding that the family arranged a donor for extracting plasma. The patient was administered fresh plasma as a treatment modality as a side-line to standard treatment protocols on the night of 14 April, the statement said. Subsequently, the patient showed improvement and by the fourth day, was weaned off ventilator support and continued on supplementary oxygen. He was shifted to a room with round-the-clock monitoring on Monday after testing negative twice within 24 hours, it said. He has now fully recovered and was discharged, the hospital said, adding that he will stay at home for another two weeks. Group medical director of Max Healthcare and senior director of the Institute of Internal Medicine Dr Sandeep Budhiraja said, "We can say that plasma therapy could have worked as a catalyst in speeding up his recovery. We cannot attribute 100 per cent recovery to plasma therapy only, as there are multiple factors which carved his path to recovery." 19 more staffers of Delhi govt hospital test positive for COVID-19 Nineteen more staffers of the Delhi government's Babu Jagjivan Ram Memorial Hospital in Jahangirpuri tested positive for coronavirus on Sunday, taking the total number of COVID-19 cases at the facility to 59, officials said. Till Saturday, the number of staffers infected with the virus stood at 40. According to a senior official, 68 more samples are to be tested. "The critically ill patients will remain in the hospital. The hospital management will take care of them," North Delhi District Magistrate Deepak Shinde said. The hospital is located in Jahangirpuri, which is one of the containment zones in the National Capital. "All the staff members are being screened for novel coronavirus. The hospital is being sanitised," the senior official said. "The hospital will be shut for new patients for the next three days," he said. Most of the new patients are from Thane city, Kalyan Dombivali, Mira Bhayandar and Navi Mumbai areas, they said. In Palghar, an increase of nine coronavirus positive cases took the total to 138. The Health Ministry released new figures, including 260 deaths, for the 24-hour period ending Sunday. That daily grim statistic was last lower on March 14, when 175 deaths were registered. Shaikh tested positive for COVID-19 on April 15 and was admitted to the SVP Hospital on the same day. He also suffered from comorbid conditions coupled with high diabetes and heart ailment. His condition exacerbated in the hospital and was placed on ventilator on April 17. His wife, who also tested positive for COVID-19, has been admitted to SVP and is currently undergoing treatment. The news of his death was shared by Congress leader Shaktisinh Gohil on Twitter. "I am at a loss of words. Badrubhai as we called him was a stellar of strength and patience. A senior leader of our Gujarat Congress family, I knew him since 40 years when he was with Youth Congress. He was relentlessly working with poor people and was infected with COVID-19," Gohil tweeted. "I am distraught on hearing the sad news of Badruddin Shaikh' s death. He will be remembered as a learned man who served his people," Ahmedabad Mirror quoted BJP Spokesperson Bharat Pandya as saying. Shaikh was a corporator from the Danilimada area in Ahmedabad, which is also one of the coronavirus hotspots in Ahmedabad. Since 2010-2015, Shaikh had been the leader of opposition in the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation. Meanwhile, the number of novel coronavirus cases in Gujarat stands at 3,071, whereas 133 people have died in the state as of April 26, 5 pm. According to the Union Health Ministry website, as many as 282 people have been cured so far. Of the total cases, 2,181 cases have been reported from Ahmedabad, including 104 deaths. Quote

The patient had kidney problems and was undergoing dialysis. His family members were kept under quarantine after he tested COVID-19 positive. Quote
