keenguy Posted March 23, 2020 Report Posted March 23, 2020 Do you think mortgage rates are going to come down in the coming weeks? April end closing undi, 2 weeks back lender asked if I want to lock 3.25% rate but did not opt assuming rates are going to fall further. Any advice/suggestions from experts? Quote
veeraveeraleaks Posted March 23, 2020 Report Posted March 23, 2020 Rates went down already. Its just a matter of time for it to reflect in market If I were you I wouldnt close the deal anymore. Housing is worst investment right now 1 Quote
LadiesTailor Posted March 23, 2020 Report Posted March 23, 2020 Mortgage market is busy with refinancing applications and that’s the reason rates are not coming down for now... it may change in a few weeks.. but 3.25 for 30 year fixed is a very good rate and I think you should lock it... if you can afford try 15 year they are around 2.5 to 2.75 Quote
keenguy Posted March 23, 2020 Author Report Posted March 23, 2020 Can’t back out of the contract or I will lose my advance. Quote

If you are in good position financially then go with closing or else i would be ok loosing the deposit than see the the house value go down. If you are in a rich neibhorhood with great schools then you are ok too. My prediction is housing prices may go down as no new buyers will be in market. Also sellers will hold out. So depending on area either the prices will be flat or go down Quote
