The 21-day nationwide lockdown to curb the spread of corona virus ends tomorrow and Modi is likely to talk about its possible extension. To effectively contain the spread of corona virus, the Odisha government has already decided to extend the ongoing lockdown in the state till April 30. States like Maharashtra, Punjab and Telangana have also announced an extension of the lock down till April 30. In a meeting with PM through video-conference on Saturday, the chief ministers of most states had asked for an extension of the lock down period as cases continue to rise. Quote

Prior to this, the Prime Minister had on Saturday held consultations with Chief Ministers through video-conferencing, during which talks were held over the need for extending the lock down further after taking into consideration the rising number of COVID-19 cases in the country. During the course of the meeting, the Prime Minister had said that there seems to be a consensus amongst the States on the extension of lock down by another two weeks. He underlined that the motto of the government earlier was 'jaan hai to jahaan hai' but now it is 'jaan bhi jahaan bhi'. Quote

"We decided to implement this 21-day lockdown when we had only about 500 cases." he said. "You have been a witness to how India has fought corona virus as compared to other countries," he added. Modi noted that it was unfair to compare with any other country. However, we cannot deny some realities.
