Road To Merit ***Raise Act***

Featured Replies

We got info in the forum like he was selling his Kushner Raise Act and trying to fit DACA in this for Hispanic voters like Obama did before elections. EO just will give temp relief for some of them and don't expect any EAD or GC from EO for EB. It is just about road to merit and suggestions to DOL and how to create a path to Merit based.

MOVING TO A MERIT-BASED IMMIGRATION SYSTEM: The Trump Administration will reform our immigration system to prioritize the highest-skilled workers and protect American jobs.
  • At President Trump’s direction, the Trump Administration is taking action to reform our H-1B immigration program.
  • Under these reforms, the H-1B program will prioritize those workers who are offered the highest wage, ensuring that the highest-skilled applicants are admitted.
  • The Trump Administration will also close loopholes that have allowed employers in the United States to replace American workers with low-cost foreign labor.
  • These reforms will help protect the wages of American workers and ensure that foreign labor entering our country is high skilled and does not undercut the United States labor market.

Everyone missed this part on June 22nd Executive order.

Bill will create a merit-based immigration system that protects our workers, our taxpayers, and our economy

A SURGE IN UNSKILLED IMMIGRATION: For decades, low-skilled and unskilled immigration into the United States has surged, depressing wages and harming America’s most vulnerable citizens.

  • Our system does not prioritize the most highly skilled immigrants—just 1 out of every 15 immigrants to the United States comes here because of their skills.
    • On average, 1 million immigrants are accepted into the United States for legal permanent residency annually, and most of them are low or unskilled workers.  This influx is the equivalent of adding more than the population of San Francisco to the country every year.
  • More than 50 percent of all immigrant households receive welfare benefits, compared to only 30 percent of native households in the United States that receive welfare benefits.
    • Immigrants with a college education or higher are, on average, less likely to be welfare recipients than those without the same degree of education.
  • Since 1979, Americans with a high school diploma or less have seen their real hourly wages decline.
    • American workers without a high school diploma have seen their real hourly wages fall by 17 percent.

Unfortunately , degrees which are given in India , doesn't equate to skills , look at lot of rich people in india without degree

the thought of being employed and getting paid doesn't mean the person is skilled

There are many people in who did not study and came to US and made millions in business

My house contractor a south american , is a millionaire , earns 2 to 3 millions per year and employs 10 to 15 people , building houses in the community.

just an election gimmick.. nothing will change.. expecting GC would be like..

అలూ లేదూ చూలూ లేదూ కొడుకు పేరు సోమలింగం...😀
