Mech engg...jobs and future ??

Also here the salary is very good as also in India. Also you can always go to software side if you ever want to. Problem with mechanical engineering in US is few companies sponsor, reason is it takes time to be mechanical engineer and the companies don't want to employ temp workers to deal with immigration status. My suggestion is if he likes to be mechanical engineer let him be and he always can go do a software job if he decide to.

But it's not going to be easy to just "go to a software job" going forward
