Free water to citizens, free power to salons in GHMC!

Going all out to woo the electorate in the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation elections and secure victory by all means, the ruling Telangana Rashtra Samithi has come out with irresistible promises to the people in its election manifesto.

Releasing the election manifesto at a press conference on Monday, TRS president and chief minster K Chandrasekhar Rao announced that people of Hyderabad consuming less than 20,000 litres of drinking water every month don’t have to pay their water bills with effect from December.

He said the decision would provide a huge relief to the poor and middleclass citizens of the GHMC and also prevent wastage of water.

“In the subsequent phases, it will be extended to other municipalities and municipal corporations in the state,” he said.

Similarly, KCR also announced free power supply to salons, laundries and dhobi ghats, not only in Hyderabad, but also all over the state with effect from December.

He also promised that all dhobhi ghats that were damaged during the recent rains would be revived at the government cost.

KCR also announced waiver of Motor Vehicle Tax amounting to Rs 267 crore for the two quarters of the current year payable by 3, 37,611 vehicle owners, all over the state, including GHMC.

Another promise made in the manifesto is the waiver of minimum demand charges of electricity supply for high-tension and low-tension categories of industries, cinema theatres and commercial firms for a period of six months, as they suffered heavily during the lockdown period across the state.

For the film industry, the chief minister said the government would reimburse the State GST for small budget films (up to Rs 10 crore), allow theatres to increase the number of shows per day and make ticket pricing flexible following the losses incurred by the industry that has been having a dry run in the past eight months.
