Nizamabad MP calls protesting farmers ‘brokers’

Hyderabad: Nizamabad MP D Arvind stoked another controversy on Tuesday when he described farmers staging protests in New Delhi against the new farm laws as ‘brokers’. He said genuine farmers had demanded removal of middlemen system during the UPA regime and when the Narendra Modi government brought in the new agriculture laws, the ‘brokers’ were staging protests in New Delhi as well as Telangana State.
Speaking to mediapersons at the BJP State office here, Arvind said the new farm laws were meant to ensure bigger profits for farmers. He tried to allay fears being spread as farmers themselves were holding talks with the Central government. “As per the new laws, farmers need not invest, pay insurance premium or even worry about their produce. It is the corporate company which will be liable to pay investment, insurance premium and also market price to farmers,” he added. He claimed that farmers will get about 65 per cent of the profits after new agricultural laws are implemented as against only 15-25 per cent being gained now.

Coming down heavily on the TRS and Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao, the Nizamabad MP said: “Farmers in Telangana State are struggling to get investment, are being deprived of crop insurance and also being denied Minimum Support Price (MSP) for their produce. The State government should take full responsibility of farmers.”

Ya I still didn’t understand what’s the issue for farmers or the other issues that they are protesting on ? Removal of middle man is definitely good for them
