The performance is truly off the charts , a passively cooled 15 w SoC is outperforming intel 16 core xeon chips in many benchmarks .

This is the biggest VFM product apple has produced in a decade .

I've been using an arm based laptop for the past 3yrs... I change it every year, and the performance is always below par, even though there's a slight improvement each time.

Apple M1 does seem like a huge improvement to the regular ARM based chips in terms of performance, but to equate it to 16core xeon chips in performance is a bridge too far.

anandtech measures peak of 27w, with avg of 20w. This is similar to ryzen 4x, and intel i7 that can boost upto 4.5ghz. 

I guess they are gonna sell low end laptops with this m1.

oh okay. The last time I used apple was 2005. It sucks. so naaku telidu. 

just saying that m1 does not do all the things apple claims it can. obviously it is optimized to run their OS. and that's all their customers need.

Apple did good by designing own chip ani naa feeling. INtel is costly even their i5 chips cost too much. this is man thing apart from performance backlash. AMD Ryzen is fire these days in performance. even Microsoft is moving away from intel for some devices. I applaud apple.

Intel became complacent and stopped innovating. They took everything for granted and now they are slowly becoming irrelevant.

 

At some point, I would not be surprised if we see an ARM based processor from AMD.

AMD already tried it. it didn't work. it works for apple because they can engineer an entire ecosystem around it

M1 can do all the things what intel can do. Infact native app kuda mind blowing performance. Rosetta 2 ayyithe na bootho na bhavishat la vundi. rumours about m1X is also there specs choosthunte picchi ekkutundi. Intel is gone.

oh okay. just ippude choosthunna about m1. I missed it, and created a stupid thread.

looks like apple pulled off what they did for laptops in the chip space. created a chip that is optimized for performance in their ecosystem.

I don't trust all these benchmarks. if mac users are noting a serious performance improvement, that's good enough.

There's nothing intel/amd can do. Apple just proved that chip design is close to being commoditized, and that they can engineer their own chip.

If Intel wakes up, Apple is gonna be stuck with an architecture no wants to develop compilers and other tools for. It can be a double edged sword.
