Andhra Pradesh Government calls for tenders to construct church

Highlights

For the first time in the history of Andhra Pradesh or for that matter in the history of India, the State government called for tenders to construct a church in Rompicharla mandal in Guntur district

Vijayawada: For the first time in the history of Andhra Pradesh or for that matter in the history of India, the State government called for tenders to construct a church in Rompicharla mandal in Guntur district. Generally, the government in a secular State is neither religious nor irreligious. It does not interfere in the activities of any religion. It shall not promote any religion. In case of the construction of temples, the TTD allocates funds for them.

Various foreign countries provide funds for the construction of churches or mosques. But the government does not interfere in the construction of any religious place. The Panchayat Raj Engineering department invited tenders on November 20 for the construction of Bethal Christian Brethern Trust Church at the mandal headquarters of Rompicharla of Guntur district.

As per the tender notice, the church should be constructed in six months at an estimated cost of Rs 8,72, 663 and the contractors of Class V and above may apply online by December 21.

AP Government invites tenders for constructing church!

There is no need to be surprised, even if more advertisements regarding the construction of churches arise in future.

The YSRCP led government mulls constructing a church using taxpayers’ money. Well, we cannot recall any such instances like these by the previous governments. The Panchayat Raj engineering wing has called tenders for constructing a church. The tenders have been called for the construction of Christian Brethren Trust Church at Rompicherla mandal in Guntur district and is estimated to cost Rs 8.72 lakh. As per the tender, the church construction is to be completed within a month.

It is very rare that churches are built using government funds. Temples are constructed with the funding of the devotees and also with the support of big organisations like TTD. Even the mosques are also constructed with the support of funds from devotees. However, it is not sure why the government is taking interest in constructing a church.

The government, in the name of welfare to minorities, is taking up the construction of churches. However, it is not clear whether welfare means promoting religions or uplifting the poor? The minority welfare schemes are brought to ensure that smaller sections do not face exploitation in society and provide benefits to them, but it is not the duty of the government to construct churches and mosques.

Few are stating that by constructing churches, the government itself is promoting the spread of religion. It is strange that the government is getting ready to construct churches. It is not known whether the government will construct a mosque also using the minority welfare funds. The government’s decisions are raising several eyebrows.

Grant-in-aid sanctioned for infrastructure at churches

About ₹3.6 crore sanctioned for 76 churches across State

The State government has accorded administrative sanction of up to ₹ 5 lakh each for 76 churches and church-run-institutions across the State for grant-in-aid towards construction and repairs under a Minorities Welfare Department scheme against proposals received by the district Collectors between 2016 and early 2019.

Principal Secretary to Govt. Md. Ilyas Rizvi issued a Government Order to this effect on Monday.

As part of the scheme, 66 churches and church-run-institutions would be given ₹5 lakh each and 10 others would be given less than ₹5 lakh for carrying out construction or repairs, renovations, construction of compound walls and others by the A.P. State Christian (Minorities) Corporation, the order states. The total grand-in-aid amounts to about ₹3.6 crore.

The Mandal Parishad Development Officers or Municipal Commissioners concerned would have to verify and ensure that the institution doesn’t violate any rules and works are completed in three months.

The churches recommended by the Collectors are from Krishna, Kurnool, Prakasam, East Godavari, West Godavari, Anantapur and Kadapa districts.

The scheme of supporting churches in carrying out repairs, maintenance, new construction and others was first introduced in 2002 and a sum of ₹30, 000 towards repairs and ₹1 lakh as a maximum permissible amount towards new constructions was announced.

Is Evangelical Christianity “exploding” because it is a ponzi scheme?

Is Evangelical Christianity “exploding” because it is a ponzi scheme?

So successful are these evangelical Christians that millions are coming to their churches all over the illiterate world but oddly not in the literate world as our news24 Christian buddy StefanGoosen told us recently:

“Christianity is exploding, and in the most unexpected places, currently 28000 Chinese are coming to Christ daily, in 20 years 25% of the Chinese population will be Christian. In 1900 10% of Africa was Christian today half the African population believes in Christ, even in the Middle East and Muslim countries there is growth being reported. There is a global revival taking place.”(sic)

But what he does not see is that it is easy to fool illiterate people (just ask the ANC) and when one looks, at the extravagant lifestyles of top international Evangelical Christian evangelists of our time such as;

Benny Hinn, Kenneth Copeland, Joyce Myers, Joel Osteen, Joseph Prince, etc and how their mega Churches and vast ministries are nothing more than mega wallets, in order to pocket the billions they collect from the gullible, one would think that they are operating a heavenly ponzi scheme.

The old wooden cross outside their huge auditoriums should be replaced with a sculpture of a wallet. Of course in South Africa we also have our fair share of Christian ponzi schemes run by mega Churches next to main highways and byways. (Rhema, Christian Family Church, River Church, Revival Church etc ) Anyone manipulative enough to talk their way to the pinnacle of a good ponzi scheme should do well in the Christian religion business.

A mega church really is just a ponzi scheme that isn't destined to collapse within a couple of years, as most do, because; when you find yourselves in oblivion after you pass on, instead of cashing in on your promised investment of eternal bliss in heaven it’s too late to get your money back – and also in oblivion you not even know that your defrauded, that is why it’s called oblivion.

The wheeling and dealing Jesus sharers (Senior Pastors) do it with a smile on their faces and an even bigger one behind your back. Have you noticed that silly Cheshire cat smile is never turned off - just like our corrupt President struggles to turn his one off?

There is one huge mega Church electronic billboard on a main street (Atlas Road) near where I live, that would have built one hundred and fifty RDP houses for the poor, if the cost was directed to a more worthy cause.

Like a drive -in bioscope of ages past, huge red letters flash at you as your drive down the road spelling out a message from God:

I love, I love you, I love you, - God.

Well the faithful and needy think that must be a love letter from trinity God, but the wise know what it is really saying is;

I love you, I love you, I love you, I love your money – Senior Pastor.

Share Jesus with your friends so that they can share their wallets with us because just like any business needs money to survive, a Church is no different. Most Christian preachers are in the religion business for profit and not because of their “supernatural” prophetic ministry.

They are about God’s business; there can be no higher calling. Any dissent and they quote superstitious verses from the Bible, as if people today will fall down dead - “Touch not my anointed” or ‘You are stealing from God, if you don't tithe”.

Thus, the more souls won for Christ, the more money goes into their pockets, and the more their personal lavish lifestyles are fuelled.  The faithful are ordered to bring in new people from communities where the majority of citizens are already Christian.

Get your friends, neighbours, and family to come to our church, because we do it better than the church down the street - we have a band, and a bookshop and God is at our meetings.

Just like corrupt tenderpreneurs they are not discreet with their ill-gotten gains either, but flaunt it as much as possible - when questioned they reference; the bountiful overflowing blessing of a wonderful all mighty God.

They tell their gullible congregations about pie in the sky in the sweet bye and bye but they prefer to rather not wait for some golden day break when Jesus will come – why must they; when you can have steak on the plate in the here and now.

A liar is one who states unproven things as fact. They are liars...ya I know that they are sincere and believe and all that …. still lies Mr Watson.

How do they think they will go to heaven if they cannot even read their very own Bible which states?

Matthew 19:21-24 Jesus answered, "If you want to be perfect, go, sell your possessions and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven. Then come, follow me."

When the young man heard this, he went away sad, because he had great wealth. Then Jesus said to his disciples, "Truly I tell you, it is hard for someone who is rich to enter the kingdom of heaven. Again I tell you, it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for someone who is rich to enter the kingdom of God."

Or maybe they have read it but are closet atheists… making hay while the sun shines because as they say;

a fool and his money are easily parted.

……………………………………………………………………………………….

 1. DEFINITION of 'Ponzi Scheme' A fraudulent investing scam promising high rates of return with little risk to investors. The Ponzi scheme generates returns for older investors by acquiring new investors. This scam actually yields the promised returns to earlier investors, as long as there are more new investors.

Religious-based financial fraud is rampant. Here's how to fight it

Of all the ways scammers can steal your money, experts agree the most difficult frauds to combat are the ones that seek to turn your own faith against you.

Law enforcement officials call them affinity frauds — targeting victims through a common bond, most often religion. While nationwide statistics are hard to come by because the scams are so widespread, it's fair to say that affinity fraud losses run into the billions of dollars per year.

"People want to trust," Jenice Malecki, a New York securities lawyer who specializes in affinity fraud cases, said in an interview with CNBC's "American Greed." "Especially in affinity situations, where people feel more comfortable for one reason or another, be it a church or an ethnic community, they tend to not look as hard as they should at what's in front of them."

Few were better at targeting people of faith than Ephren Taylor, who fleeced some $16 million from members of church flocks in 43 states by preaching so-called "prosperity gospel."

"Biblical principles (are) investing wisely, responsibly, and for the purpose of furthering the kingdom. But also, God wants us to be prosperous," said Anita Dorio, who, along with her husband, Gary, heard Taylor's pitch at the giant Lakewood Church in Houston.

The Dorios invested their life's savings of $1.3 million with Taylor, who professed to be a self-made multimillionaire, having created a video game as a teenager. Appearing at churches across the country, often at the behest of the pastor, Taylor sold promissory notes that he claimed were backed by socially responsible ventures like small businesses and affordable housing projects.

But it was all a Ponzi scheme. The Dorios and hundreds of other investors lost everything. Taylor is serving a 19-year federal prison sentence after pleading guilty to a single count of fraud.

"So many people were just devastated by this," Gary Dorio told "American Greed." "Families destroyed, dreams destroyed."

Holy war

Affinity frauds persist despite a widespread crackdown in recent years that intensified after Bernard Madoff's epic Ponzi scheme blew up nearly a decade ago. Madoff's fraud, in which investors lost nearly $20 billion, focused on the Jewish communities in New York and Florida.

The FBI says it is investigating $2 billion worth of affinity fraud in Utah alone, where an estimated 60 percent of the population belongs to the Mormon church. The church itself has issued warnings to the faithful, the Utah Legislature has increased penalties for financial fraud and the state attorney general is making it easier for residents to check out prospective investment advisors and business partners.

The Utah White Collar Crime Offender Registry, a first-of-its kind program launched by the attorney general's office in 2016, is a searchable database of people convicted of a range of financial crimes in the previous 10 years. Just enter the person's name, and if he or she is in the registry, you will find the nature of the offense, and when and where it occurred. You will even get a picture of the offender.

For now, the registry lists only Utah offenders convicted of state crimes. Officials there say it could be a model nationwide.

"I think any time you can give investors more information, that is a very good idea," Malecki said.

Experts agree that government efforts like the registry, stepped up enforcement and investor education programs are important weapons in the fight against affinity fraud. But investors themselves need to take up arms as well.

Articles of faith

Affinity scams are so powerful because they harness the same thing that draws us to religion — faith. Malecki says one of the keys to not being taken in by a religious-based affinity fraud is to separate your faith in a higher power from your faith in an investment advisor who shows up at your place of worship.

"First of all, you have to ask yourself, 'Why am I being solicited to invest by someone whom I have a different type of relationship with,'" she said. "If you're getting information about investments at a church, that should be the first red flag that something isn't right."

But if you are still considering an investment pitch that comes through your place of worship, be at least as skeptical as you would be of a pitch you got someplace else.

"What are this person or these people's credentials to actually make this investment successful?" Malecki said. "I always tell my clients, 'You're a squirrel in the woods with your nuts, and if you don't keep them close to you someone will take them.'"

Just as you would for any investment advisor, run the person's name through the proper database to check them out. While the Utah registry only includes those convicted of state crimes, investors elsewhere can use the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA)'s Broker Check to learn a broker's employment and disciplinary history. In addition, the Securities and Exchange Commission's Investment Advisor Public Disclosure site will search federal and state registrations to help determine if the advisor you are considering is legitimate. Do not forget to search the advisor's firm as well.

"Those brokerage firms, especially the large ones, will likely be there, and you can actually do due diligence on the broker dealers as well," Malecki said. "Are they small companies and underfunded?"

If your prospective advisor or their firm does not come up in your search, that could be a warning sign as well.

"You shouldn't be in a faith-based belief system institution getting investment advice about hard dollars that you've earned your whole life," Malecki said.

Wise teachings

Another reason affinity fraud is so hard to beat is that, like any predator, an affinity fraudster targets the weakest of the flock — those who are the most trusting, and in many cases, the most naive. The best defense is knowledge.

"People need to be more educated about Ponzi schemes and affinity fraud," Malecki said. "The problem is that most people who are victims to a Ponzi scheme or affinity fraud generally realize that after the fact."

That means understanding the investment you are considering. How does it work? What are the risks? Seek out independent advice. Consult your family, and run the investment past independent professionals.

"Do your own homework and due diligence on the investments. Seek out the advice of your accountant. Look for a securities lawyer," Malecki said. "A penny upfront will save you a pound on the back end."

Florida attorney Cathy Lerman, who represented victims of Taylor's scam, says churches bear some responsibility as well.

"I believe all churches should have a tenet that says, 'We do not allow any type of investment advisors or sponsors to speak in our pulpit or to make presentations to our flock,'" she told "American Greed." If we had that, this religious affinity fraud would stop."

State assisted conversions in AP? 70% of Christian pastors who received govt honorarium through Disaster Relief Fund hold SC/OBC caste certificates

LRPF Story_1  H

In a startling revelation by Legal Rights Protection Forum (LRPF), 70% of the 29,841 Christian pastors who received one-time government honorarium of Rs.5, 000 through Disaster Relief Fund hold SC/OBC caste certificates. LRPF obtained the relevant details through an RTI which revealed that a large percentage of Christians who have been baptised and have undergone Pastor Training courses but holding Hindu Caste Certificates have obtained one-time relief honorarium of Rs. 5,000/- each.

The honorarium was given by the Andhra Pradesh government to all ‘Religious Service Renderers’ which includes Archakas, Imams, Mouzzams and Christian Pastors who were facing hardship and distress of various religious institutions, as a measure of relief arising out of break out of COVID-19 Pandemic. The AP government has spent close to Rs. 34 crores on the one-time honorariums on 31,017 Archakas, 7000 Imams & Mouzzams and 29,841 Pastors which was credited to the respective beneficiaries’ bank accounts.

LRPF investigation revealed that while the official estimate of population of the Christians in AP is 1.39%, 43.99% of the honorarium beneficiaries are Christian Pastors. The data clearly shows that a large percentage of Christians who have been baptised and have undergone Pastor Training courses continue to hold Hindu Caste Certificates only to obtain government benefits like the recent one-time relief honorarium during COVID lockdown.

LRPF Story_1  H

Since holding of dual religious identities for government benefits is punishable under law, LRPF has complained to the National Commission for Scheduled Castes to take action and immediately order Government of Andhra Pradesh to submit to the Commission the complete list of Christian Pastors who have received Rs. 5,000/- as one-time disaster relief as mentioned above, together with religion/community details of all the 29,841 pastors.

LRPF in its complaint letter says that their sample data has revealed that 58.14 % of Christian pastors are actually holding Hindu-SC community certificates and 13.37 percentage of the Christian pastors are holding Hindu OBC Community certificates. On a conservative basis, if it is assumed that 70 percent of the pastors listed above carry Hindu community certificates (sample data reveals 80.81%), the total figure of such pastors come to 20,900. The amount received by them at Rs. 5000 per head comes to Rs. 10.45 Crores which is clearly fraudulent misuse of public money, says the LRPF complaint.

LRPF has requested the commission to initiate appropriate action to safeguard the interests of Scheduled Caste communities of Andhra Pradesh and weed out converts who have illegally obtained SC/OBC Communities certificate through fraudulent misrepresentation of facts.

LRPF Story_1  H

“We once again fervently appeal to you to send a fact-finding mission to the state of Andhra Pradesh and initiate steps to save the people of Scheduled Castes/OBC of Andhra Pradesh from becoming culturally extinct. The onslaught of Christian Evangelical lobby with financial support of thousands of crores of rupees through FCRA funds, hundreds of foreign evangelists coming to Andhra Pradesh indulging in brazen conversions, baptisms and a huge army of local native Christian pastors have set up on the ground in AP – all these have crushed the SCs of Andhra Pradesh and pushed them to the brink of extinction. SCs of Andhra Pradesh exist only on paper and in reality, our experience has shown that only 10-15 % of the SCs are real Hindu SCs clinging on to their ancestral religion, culture and civilisation. These people are small in number, politically insignificant and don’t count in vote bank politics. Hence, they require your valuable support”, urges LRPF in its letter.

State assisted conversions

LRPF complaint letter also shares details of the government appeasement of so-called minorities at the cost of Hindus and the finances of the state. The present government in Andhra Pradesh had proposed regular monthly payment to religious service renderers and applications were called from Christian pastors to apply for the same. Strangely, the state government has not made it mandatory to submit Christian community certificate by prospective beneficiaries while submitting applications.

“This has enabled a large number of Christians holding Hindu community certificates to apply and benefit from the one-time payment of Rs. 5,000/-. As and when the government fulfils its election promise of monthly payments to pastors, all these people will enjoy the benefit every month. This is serious abuse and defrauding of public exchequer”. Says LRPF. “This is direct encouragement of the present government to SCs to convert to Christianity yet corner all the constitutional benefits of SCs without any hassles”, says the letter to the SC Commission.
It can be recalled that the AP government recently released funds for construction/repair/renovation of 76 Churches at a cost of Rs. 5.00 lakhs each. The earlier government of Andhra Pradesh has, during the period 2014- 19, funded construction of 817 churches. Most of these are located in SC colonies or where large number of SCs are living. This is direct encouragement of conversions of SCs into Christianity. It is a matter of deep concern to us that successive governments have resorted to supporting conversions into Christianity.

LRPF data also reveals that recently an NGO – Samarasta Seva Foundation conducted a survey of SCs at Chilukuru Village, Ibrahimpatnam Mandal, Krishna District, Andhra Pradesh. The following are the telling statistics from the village.

LRPF Story_1  H

Though the figures are shocking, the situation is more or less same across the districts of Krishna, Guntur, East Godavari and West Godavari in AP. “Today a pathetic situation has arisen wherein officials and common man have concluded that ‘All people of Scheduled Castes are are Christians unless proved otherwise’. Identity of the people of Scheduled Castes as Hindus has been washed away in the deluge of Evangelists’ tsunami.” says LRPF.

“We are deeply concerned at this development as the SCs/OBCs of Andhra Pradesh with thousands of years of cultural heritage, civilizational achievements and deep religious practices now face extinction. Their way of life, their daily religious worship, celebration of festivals – all are being wiped out in front of their own eyes, with active financial/administrative support from successive governments”, says LRPF.

LRPF investigation also reveals that there is a huge jump in population of SCs while there is sharp decline in number of Christians. This is possible only when large number of Christians have started declaring themselves as Hindu-SCs and obtaining relevant community certificates enabling them to illegally corner all the benefits designed to uplift the livelihood of SCs. Such a large-scale misuse is not possible without active connivance of the administration in the state.

LRPF says that not just the present regime in AP, but all previous governments from the past 5 decades are to be blamed for the same as they turned a blind eye or actively assisted such misuse of benefits of Scheduled Castes.
Urging the SC/ST commission to launch an immediate enquiry into the whole issue, the LRPF requests them to send a high-power fact-finding committee to Andhra Pradesh to study the issue of large scale misuse of reservation benefits of SCs/OBCs and help the genuine SCs to utilize their legitimate constitutional benefits.

Appeasement of Evangelists reaches the peak in AP - LRPF unearths documents that reveal state patronage for building Churches

Jagan Reddy_1

Close on the allegations that the AP governments under Jagan Reddy of YSRCP are giving full support to Christian Evangelicals who are on a conversion spree, several documents show how the present and past government have aided conversion by their blatant appeasement of Christians.

Organiser had revealed how missionaries aided by their supporters in the administration had tried to occupy forest lands by building huge crosses or Churches. Timely intervention by local Hindu groups and legal forums like Legal Rights Protection Forums had stopped such construction by producing official ownership documents. But now the government itself is funding construction of Churches in Andhra Pradesh.

In a Government Order dated 27th December, 2019 the government through the minorities welfare department is funding construction of 3 churches in villages of Guntur district. The proposals were received by the minorities welfare department for construction of churches at Nizampatnam Mandal in Guntur through the AP State Christian Finance Corporation for an amount of Rs. 5 lakhs per church amounting to Rs. 15 lakhs in total. The collector and district magistrate were then asked to submit the full fledged proposal for sanctioning the amount for the construction.

Jagan Reddy GO_1 &nb

The GO says 'After careful examination of the matter...., the government hereby accord administrative sanction for an amount of Rs. 15 Lakhs which would be Rs. 5 Lakh per church as aid towards construction of (3) churches in various villages of Nizampatnam Mandal, Guntur District.' The GO then specifies that the AP State Christian Finance Corporation, a Government body shall release the grants to the collector and district magistrate of Guntur.

Those who swear by the constitution and separation of religion have been silent on such appeasement politics. The state BJP has also decreid such blatant appeasement by Jagan's government. However, the TDP and its leaders have been silent as it too has been guilty of similar appeasement while it was in power.

TDP - A equal partner in appeasing Evangelists

Legal Rights Protection Forum (LRPF) has unearthed scathing documents that reveal as to why they are silent over Jagan government's move to fund constitution of churches. The documents which are in possession of LRPF show that the TDP government between 2018 and 2019, sanctioned Rupees 38.36 crores for Construction, Repair and Renovation of Churches in AP by passing 54 GOs. It even sanctioned Rs. 58 Lakhs for construction & repair of toilets in Churches through GO RT-408 on 29.11.2018.

LRPF Documents_1 &nb

The above documents reveal the details of the Government Order, date, summary with details of church and the amount requested, district and the amount sanctioned. While TDP was in power, Chandrababu Naidu had in a bid to get re-elected had declared that financial aid would be given to construct Churches in AP and even promised to grant Scheduled Caste status to converted Christians.

LRPF has been consistently fighting to unravel the nexus of Evangelists and government officials who either remain silent or abet their activities. It can be recalled that intervention by LRPF had stopped the construction of an illegal masjid and church on forest land in Kurnool, AP. Unless intervened, it has been seen that the officials in AP do not stop construction of church or Christian symbols on forest or government lands. However, with such official sanction by the state government to construction of Churches, appeasement has reached its peak.

Legal experts opine that unless the central government brings in a law and make constitutional provisions to really separate religion from state, such blatant appeasement for the sake of votes will continue which will be detrimental to the cultural fabric of this country.
