My wife is Primary and I am Secondary. I am in EB2 while wife in EB3 so we used wife GC for adjustment.

My wife GC sponsor is future employer and she is not working with it right now though she worked 10.5 years until 2018. Employer still kept Gc offer valid which we use. Since Gc is approved she will join the case. So wanted to let people understand this before I dive in details.

Other strategy is get your downgrade approved and file 485 it goes to msc for better processing

Or by october eb2 might become current which is unknown
