Theoritically selling dec 31st should be fine. But some trading firms may mess it since actually settlement happens 2-3 days later.

to be safe, its better to sell stocks atleast 3 working days prior to dec 31st

I use e-trade. I sold on Dec 31st last year and it was all fine.

Most of the trading firms are fine with dec 31st. But penny stocks are kind of different. Sometimes, it will take upto a week for settling it.

dec 31st is fine, i person prefer dec 27-28.

Wash sale Carries over to Jan as well. Just in case if you are planning on buying the same equity in Jan 1st two weeks. 
 

Ultimately you won’t lose tax benefits. Because of wash sale the losses will be differed till next year.

With no profits in stocks this year.  Can we sell for a loss upto 3K now and get that 3k back on overall tax returns? Leda only stocks profits lo aa 3k loss adjust chestara
