It has nothing to do with financial status. reservation specifically has nothing to do with it. society is divided by caste, so public institutions cannot be allowed to be captured by any one caste or caste groups. Reservation will exist until there is caste in India.

economic criteria is just bs. you don't need reservation for poor. there are other ways of helping poor people. But there's no other way to help people who are discriminated by caste, than give them positions of power within the system. It still hasn't happened.

Ramnath Kovind is a chamcha of the ruling elite. No one even knows what his credentials are, other than that MoShah gave their divine blessings to elevate him to president. Ilayaraja doesn't care about his caste. He's so entrenched in the system that he made music for movies even after fellow dalits requested him not to associate with movies that glorify a particular caste who have increased attacks on dalits as a result (Thevar Magan). He may be a genius, but he's an asshole.

yes, it was overplayed by the media. It was a small incident, but still the sentiment exists.

Today some dalit castes have started to imitate the larger Hindu society, by being 'proud' of their caste.. inventing origin stories (not rooted in reality) and mocking other dalit castes that worse off than they are.

Ambedkar, when talking about bhakti, is referring to this kind of behaviour. Asks people to not associate him with a caste and feel proud of being part of that caste. Asks people to keep politics and faith separate. and fight for emancipation of everyone.

I don't need a source. simple google search will tell you about it. That was indeed Ambedkar's original demand. Not reservations.

You think everyone should fall behind the 'idea of India' as if its god's will. Ofcourse you think Ambedkar and Jinnah are hypocrites. If you actually look up the word in the dictionary and understand what it means, it will become clear that you are the hypocrite here.
