Neither it was the case of shortsightedness nor overconfidence. India contributed to the COVAX initiative. The initiative was to prevent Vaccine nationalism and provide equitable access to vaccines in this pandemic situation. 

What they are doing cannot even be considered as vaccine nationalism. On one hand they are allowing to export vaccines commercially and on the other hand they speak this protectionism. 

The QUAD nations came to an understanding to collaborate and manufacture Janssen vaccines in India.. so, why would India suspect this backstabbing?

Shortsighted ani anindi enduku ante we simply did not the possibility of another wave coming. We thought we were invincible even after seeing multiple waves in US and Brazil.  Contributing to the initiative was a great thought but we should have inoculations on our citizens before setting sights on saving others.

Ippudu ilanti waves choosi everybody is trying to prioritize their own citizens for vaccines. This is like a war albeit of a different kind and no one has time to think about friendships during a war.
