he has NIE approval expired on 24th , but due to recent changes they are extended. 

Just he wants to know the situation with NIE

I traveled to US recently with NIE Stamp on passport, SFO was my POE.

At POE you will be taken to the secondary check. Passports teskunaru, verified NIE and stamped passports no questions asked.
