Because It got separated with better assests, ports, smaller and affluent  population than India.

Jinnah didn’t live long enough like Nehru to envision his plan he had for  pakistan - a modern islamic nation on democratic principles(jinnah was a atheist too). he succumbed soon after division. they started knocking on the doors of US since 1950s which US took advantage of while India took non-aligned stance laying foundational pieces like PSUs, building dams, build universities, iits and iims etc. The whole generation of ours benefited from what Nehru set rolling
