I don't think it will be adandonned  but it will be auctioned off to repay debt and facilities will be used . 

One thing is for sure it will never recover the 24 bil$ spent on it , huge drag on economy.

Even dubai islands are also a huge financial mess  , just the Jebel Ali islands  have cost Dubai govt + investors 20 bil$ loss so far
