kingmakers Posted October 4, 2010 Report Posted October 4, 2010 If speculations are to be believed, the Justice Srikrishna Committee is likely to recommend the formation of Telangana state and find an amicable solution to the contentious issue of Hyderabad. The Congress leadership is learnt to have sent a message to Telangana Rashtra Samithi president K Chandrasekhara Rao to agree for a compromise on the status of Hyderabad: that it would be declared as a union territory as well as the capital of Telangana. While Telangana state could have its headquarters in Hyderabad, the administration in Hyderabad would be under the control of the union government.This would not only ensure security to the properties of Andhraites and allay their fears; but at the same time, the Telangana people would continue to have their rights on the capital city. There would be a separate capital for Seemandhra region. The Congress leadership is believed to have promised to take care of KCR’s interests and in future, could promote him as the chief ministerial candidate, if he agreed for the proposal. The TRS president is believed to have agreed in principle for this proposal, but he does not want to come out in support of it, lest he would face the people’s wrath. He would rather want the Srikrishna Committee to make the recommendation and then leave the issue for a public debate. Once the issue is settled, KCR would reveal his plans.
