Nothing with some tribals worshipping and feeling Sammakka Sarakka as personifications of Kaali maa based on their duties and contributions towards that community, and every Hindu irrespective of caste affiliations should support that.

Almost every Maratha I have met irrespective of their castes and social community backgrounds have told me they look upto Shivaji Maharaj as a modern day personification of Shiva.

 Mamuluga aah time lo (when jaatara is ON) newspaper open cheste it used to be all over the place ani na uddesham, it is a huge festival btw. Also, it is not a new festival that came after 2014. It is pretty famous. I never celebrated or attended it myself, but read about it and also there was a hit picture on this. Ala telsindi.

నేటి జగిత్యాల జిల్లా జగిత్యాల రూరల్ మండల ప్రాంతములోని పొలసాను పాలించే గిరిజన దొర మేడరాజు గోదావరి నది తీరంలోని అటవీ ప్రాంతానికి వేటకు వెళ్లారు. ఆ సమయంలో ఒక పుట్ట వద్ద.. సింహాల మధ్య.. కేరింతలు కొడుతూ  ఓ పసిపాప కనిపించింది. కోయదొరలు ఆ పాపను తమ వెంట గూడేనికి తీసుకెళ్లి వారే పెంచుకున్నారు. ఆ పాపకు సమ్మక్క అని పేరు పెట్టుకున్నారు.  సమ్మక్క వారికి పుట్ట మీద కనిపించే సమయంలో చుట్టూ పులులూ , సింహాలూ ఆమెకు రక్షణగా నిలవడం చూసి ఆమెని దైవాంశ సంభూతురాలిగా భావించారు . కన్నీరు సైతం ఎండిన కరువులో తమకు తోడుగా నిలిచేందుకు వచ్చిన దేవతగా ఆమెను కొలుచుకునేవారు . సమ్మక్క హస్తవాసి వారి నమ్మకాన్ని తరచూ రుజువు చేసేది . ఆమె చేత్తో ఆకుపసరు ఇస్తే ఎలాంటి రోగమైనా ఇట్టే నయమైపోయేదట . సమ్మక్క యుక్తవయసుకు వచ్చాక.. అతని మేనల్లుడైన మేడారం పాలకుడు పగిడిద్దరాజుకిచ్చి పెళ్ళి చేసాడు మేడరాజు . ఈ దంపతులకు సారలమ్మ, నాగులమ్మ, జంపన్న అనే ముగ్గురు సంతానం కలిగారు.

రాజ్య విస్తరణ కాంక్షతో కాకతీయ ప్రభువు మొదటి ప్రతాపరుద్రుడు పొలవాసపై దండెత్తాడు . ఆయన దాడికి తట్టుకోలేక మేడరాజు , మేడారం పారిపోయి అజ్ఞాతవాసం గడుపుతుంటాడు . మేడారాన్ని పాలించే కోయరాజు " పగిడిద్దరాజు " కాకతీయుల సామంతునిగా ఉంటూ కరువు కాటకాల పరిస్థితుల కారణంగా కప్పం కట్టలేకపోతాడు . కప్పం కట్టకపోవడం , మేడరాజుకు ఆశ్రయం కల్పించడం , కోయ గిరిజనులలో సార్వభౌమునికి వ్యతిరేకంగా విప్లవ భావాలు నూరిపోసి రాజ్యాధికారాన్ని ధిక్కరిస్తున్నాడనే కారణంతో పగిడిద్దరాజుపై ఆగ్రహం చెందిన ప్రతాపరుద్రుడు..  అతడిని అణచివేయడానికి తన ప్రధానమంత్రి యుగంధరుడితో సహా మాఘ శుద్ధ పౌర్ణమి రోజున మేడారం పై దండెత్తుతాడు.   పగిడిద్దరాజు , సమ్మక్క , సారక్క , నాగమ్మ , జంపన్న , గోవింద రాజులు తమ సాయుధ బలగాలతో వేర్వేరు ప్రాంతాల నుంచి గెరిల్లా యుద్ధాన్ని ప్రారంభించి వీరోచితంగా పోరాటం చేస్తారు . కాని సుశిక్షితులైన అపార కాకతీయ సేనల ధాటికి తట్టుకోలేక మేడరాజు , పగిడిద్దరాజు , సారలమ్మ , నాగులమ్మ , గోవింద రాజులు యుద్ధంలో మరణిస్తారు . పరాజయ వార్త విన్న జంపన్న అవమానాన్ని తట్టుకోలేక సంపెంగ వాగులో దూకి ఆత్మహత్యకు పాల్పడతాడు . అప్పటి నుండి సంపెంగవాగు జంపన్న వాగుగా ప్రసిద్ది చెందింది .

తమ వారంతా మరణించడంతో సమ్మక కాళీ మాతలా విజృంభించి శత్రువులను చీల్చి చెండాడుతుంది. కత్తి చేత పట్టి వీరోచితంగా పోరాడింది. ఐతే ఓ సైనికుడు ఆమెను వెన్నుపోటు పొడుస్తాడు. రక్తమోడుతూ ఆమె చిలుకల గుట్టవైపు వెళ్లింది. ఆక్కడ ఓ మలుపు వద్ద అదృశ్యమైన్నట్లు పురాణాలు చెబుతాయి. గూడెం వాసులకు ఈ విషయం తెలిసి సమ్మక్క కోసం అడవిలో దివిటీతో గాలించారు.  గుట్టపై ఉన్న నెమలినార చెట్టు కింద పుట్ట దగ్గర కుంకుమ భరిణలా కనిపించిందట. ఈ గడ్డ మీద పుట్టిన ప్రతి ఒక్కరు వీరుడిలా రాజ్యాన్ని పాలించాలని.. ఇక్కడ రెండు గద్దెలు కట్టి.. రెండేళ్ల కోసారి ఉత్సవం జరిపిస్తే.. వారి కోరికలను నెరవేరేస్తానని ఆకాశవాణి ద్వారా వినిపించిందట. ఆ మాటలను అమ్మ ఆదేశంగా గిరిజనులు భావించారు. ఆ తర్వాత ప్రతాప రుద్రుడు గిరిజనుల కప్పాన్ని రద్దు చేసి... సమ్మక్కకు భక్తుడిగా మారిపోతాడు. సమ్మక్క కుంకమ భరిణాల కనిపించిన చోట గద్దెలను కట్టించి.. రెండేళ్ల కోసారి ఉత్సవాలను నిర్వహించారు. అలా మేడారం జాతర మొదలయిందని పురణాలు చెబుతున్నాయి. అప్పటి నుంచీ ప్రతి రెండుళ్లకు ఓసారి మాఘ శుద్దపౌర్ణమి రోజు చిలుకలగుట్ట నుండి సమ్మక్కను కుంకుమ భరణి రూపంలో తీసుకువచ్చి గద్దెలపై ప్రతిష్టించి జాతర జరుపుతారు

జాతరలో ప్రధాన ఘట్టాలు:

మేడారం జాతర మొత్తం నాలుగు రోజుల పాటు జరుగుతుంది. జాతర మొదటి రోజున కన్నెపల్లి నుంచి సారలమ్మను గద్దెకు తీసుకువస్తారు రెండవ రోజున చిలుకల గుట్టలో భరిణె రూపంలో ఉన్న సమ్మక్కను తీసుకొచ్చి గద్దెపై ప్రతిష్ఠిస్తారు. దేవతలను గద్దెలపై ప్రతిష్ఠించే సమయంలో భక్తులు పూనకంతో ఊగిపోతారు. మూడవ రోజున అమ్మవార్లు ఇద్దరు గద్దెలపై కొలువు తీరి భక్తులకు దర్శనమిస్తారు . నాలుగవ రోజు సాయంత్రము ఆవాహన పలికి దేవతలను ఇద్దరినీ తిరిగి వన ప్రవేశం చేయిస్తారు. వంశ పారంపర్యంగా వస్తున్న గిరిజనులే పూజార్లు కావడం ఈ జాతర ప్రత్యేకత తమ కోర్కెలు తీర్చమని భక్తులు అమ్మవార్లకు బంగారం (బెల్లం) నైవేద్యంగా సమర్పించుకుంటారు. తెలంగాణతో పాటు ఆంధ్రప్రదేశ్, మహారాష్ట్ర, ఛత్తీస్‌గఢ్‌ తదితర రాష్ట్రాల నుంచి లక్షలాదిగా భక్తులు కులమతాలకు అతీతంగా ఈ గిరిజన జాతరకు తరలివస్తారు. గత జాతరకు 1.20 కోట్ల మంది వచ్చినట్లు ప్రకటించిన అధికారులు.. ఈసారి అంతకు మించే వస్తారని అంచనా వేస్తున్నారు. అందుకు తగ్గట్లుగా ఏర్పాట్లు కూడా చేశారు.
