It’s the states that should cut down on the taxes if the need arose and ask the states to reimburse. Union is importing the fuel, PSU’s are refund the crude, Oil marketing companies retail the sale of fuel products and states want to tax the fuel…I mean where is the state’s contribution here ? Let the states float their own oil companies, start buying the crude, invest in refineries and marketing network and let them sell at their own tax slabs cutting out Union’s share. PSU and OMC's are all owned by the Union, they are set up for a purpose. Let states also set up state owned PSU's and start buying crude and sell with in the states.
