New to Programming - Groovy and Java

Hello Friends, 

I work on IAM product which needs Groovy for custom tasks , i am planning to learn Groovy. Can someone please tell me prereqs for learning Groovy.
In online i see , we need to know core Java to understand Groovy. Can some please throw some light how to start this.
