Short answer…opportunities…

long answer…

i had 10 yrs exp only in .net…i had my own nuget packages as well…i was doing wpf development when i left .net….

there were huge platform independency concerns but they realsed dotnet core to address that platform independency but by that time java was already own the battle…even c# has cool features than java…

I dont know how it is now…but 4 years back “.net standard” was very confusing…and lot of ifs and buts like wpf wont available in dotnet core…asp.net core api gone through major change from version to version…etc while wcf is stable…iot development was at baby steps…xamrin has huge competition with other mobile development libraries… etc

but among all the biggest drawback for dotnet is community support…there were huge part of developer community improved java libraries/frameworks much better way …example spring boot…

how did you learn java bro i mean in terms of switching

react springboot containers is good combo

java not flexible as .net when it comes to setup and all

Now there is no much difference between both maybe still java users are more

If you know c#…learning java is easy…same oops concepts…very minor differences…

same SOLID principles…same design patterns…

all you need to concentrate is how to use maven or gradle…( which is equivalent to nuget in dotnet)..

and spring boot is one of the easiest framework…spring boot annotations (similar like attributes in c#) are very helpful and effective…

Along with spring boot web …generally people get idea of spring batch, spring cloud…etc
