katharnak Posted October 14, 2010 Report Posted October 14, 2010 Probably for the first time in the Indian democratic scene a trust vote was won twice in less than six months time by the BJP government. The chief minister Yeddyurappa has in total faced four trust vote sessions in less than three years time.Today in the Vidhana souda the BJP came with flying colors by winning nod of 106 MLA's ahead of opposition's 100 MLA's. There should be atleast 105 MLA's for winning the majority and BJP was able to secure one vote more than the required minimum.Majority was declared by the speaker after head count of all the MLA's.However one JDS MLA abstained from voting. The opposition parties did not want second trust vote and they have moved to court, governor and speaker to prevent second trust vote but their efforts became in vain. However it all depends on the five disqualified independent MLA's as they are not allowed for the voting. It depends on the high court's decision on Monday whether to allow the five candidates to participate in the trust vote or not.The chief minister and BJP cadre appeared in exuberant mood after winning the trust vote and said that it is a victory for democracy.Meanwhile the opposition seems to be not yet ready to accept the defeat,it is only semifinal and final is yet to come is what they said.
