It depends on local school district rules. I think it’s possible for specific scenarios. However, it’s worth giving it a shot. you might have to get approvals from both school districts (Residence and work location).

Great schools ratings follow avvaku.. they are crap.. follow either schooldigger or niche ratings and look at the state level and region level rankings..

In my opinion, you should go for townhouse with good SD. Easy to sell or rent in case of any adverse situation and the home value will be either intact or appreciate in the mean time.

Recently got married. No kids yet. We've been looking for single family homes for about 3 months now and they seem out of my budget. I expanded my search radius and
found a good single family home in a  not so desirable School district. Similar house in neighboring SD is atleast 140k more. Should I shell out that extra money to live in a good SD or now that I don't have any kids yet, can I go ahead with this home? I know kids doesn't start going to school until atleast 3 years. That gives me 4-5 years to think about SD?

Any ideas/suggestions??

Thanks.

Looking at the rising interest rates buy where you won't feel burden

townhome ki resale ela untadhi .. i think it is not easy to sell?

Townhomes are easy to sell or rent it especially in good school district. Investment homes kosam people look for townhomes.

We initially thought the same and confined our search to good SD but after seeing this, we get to enjoy a beautiful backyard and big home for the same price I pay for a tight townhome in that good SD. I know the home prices may increase in good SD after 7 years but our salary would also increase by then. If I can sell this house for atleast a small margin, I can use that as down payment towards the home in good SD. Am I wrong with this approach?

small margin? at least your house value apricate 20% then you will be covered. Most of them wont prefer homes in not so good SD. Talk to your friends who bought in that area. at least you will get some idea about location.

Its good to reveal location so if any one around in that area can guide you

Why are you buying house/townhouse, I don't think you have clarity yet. If you want to just save rent then townhouse is okay. It won't appreciate, doesn't matter what school district it is. If you're buying as investment where you live for some years and rent/sell then need to look out for upcoming areas where people are moving to, school ratings can be average. If you are buying for long term stay 10 to 15 years then look at school ratings and go for a house, they should be stable not just 1 year but going back 5 to 10 years.
