By the time chiru started acting there weren’t any pouranikam movies, not much market for it either. 80 taruvatha vachina and hit ayina pouranikam movie enti? 
 

Balayya babu chesina oka movie flop and big losses in early 90’s , even he did not do another till Sri Rama rajyam and it too failed kada

By the time he ventured into Big Heroes Stream, the pouranikam Genre got outdated and so called Legendary also faced a string of flops with the movies made in Pouranikam style.

In fact Sr.Ntr wanted to retire from film industry as he was delivering continuous flops. Then came Dasari Narayan Rao and KRR who gave some hits and made him a Hero again.

After 1980s, only some small time heroes like Balayya did some roles in Pouranikam style like Bhairava Dweepam which did well at box-office but resulted in losses to producers because of over-budgeting that stemmed from thousands of re-takes some actors in that movie like Balayya took.. Newly introduced vamp Roja did very well in the same movie with less re-takes. Film reels were very costly those days. So none of the Balayya movies gave any profits to producers.

Sr NTR wanted to retire from movies only after reaching the age of 60, and not before the release of Dasari and Raghavendra Rao's movies.

Kaka Dana veera was before chiru got into movies. Even NTR stopped it after srimad bursts parvam failed.
