Anta Assamey Posted August 3, 2023 Report Posted August 3, 2023 In a shocking decision, India on Thursday announced that it was immediately stopping the import of all laptops, personal computers, and tablets in India. Companies can bring the gadgets into the country with a special license, ‘Valid Licence for Restricted Imports’. Directorate General of Foreign Trade announced an import ban on laptops and this move is highly likely to increase the prices of gadgets and laptops in India. This move impacts companies like Apple, Lenovo, Asus, Acer, Samsung, and HP along woth many others who sell laptops after importing them from abroad. The new rule of the government is heard to be bringing the manufacturing and assembling in India which is now being done in China. Many on social media are commenting that this government move will help companies like Reliance, which launched JioBook just two days ago, and other Indian companies. 2 Quote
