Nonsense , local manufacturing won't come if you ban imports it will cause lot of harm.

Local manufacturing will come if you subsidize the costs and remove trade barriers further. This move is same logic used by nehru , Indira for 40 years that led india to become the poorest country in Asia.

one of PV Narasimha rao's biggest reform in 1992 was to remove such licencing requirement for IT companies that led to boom in IT services

Previously entrepreneurs like Narayana moorthy used to beg a Delhi licenced dealers to import computers and the approval used to take months or even years

if you ban other companies imports it will create market monopoly for a local company. it wont help citizens to get to choose the best product for price they paid but instead adjust with what they got. it will just help the local company to loot people with substandard product with maximum profits.look at pakistan eventhough they dint ban any imports look at the bikes they use and price they pay. they are paying more than 1 lakh to 2 lakh PKR for old cd100 kind of bikes
