Why India ban import of Laptops ????

Case in point Jio laptop is made by ‎Hunan Greatwall Computer Systems Co in china 

Ambani is free to import that sub standard craptop and sell it in India while some startup  cannot import a niche GPU for AI project . Now the startup has to pay a huge brokerage fee to a trader

jio laptop has some mediatek processor. and is sold at @16k or something. Think of the margins on this laptop.

mediatek processor probably costs a few dollars.

plus windows ARM s/w is still buggy. unless you install linux on it, you'll have a very low performance computer. You can buy a more powerful AMD laptop in the market for that price right now. That is, until this ban.

not trying to criticize you but these desam and dharmam is slogans given by politicians to benefit some big pockets fololing common people. Relaity is the poor and middle class in india staying poor. India is 5th largest economy but look at per capita income around 2k in india. wheras compare top 50 other countries and even compare with china currently at 13k and 700% more than india even with huge population. so coutries are trying to create opportunities for majarioty of their citizens and not just for less than 1% population like india.
