There used to be a batallion of women warriors in Greek mythology. They were as powerful as men and were stronger on ocassions. The same was depicted in Wonder Woman or some movie I guess. The term "Amazon woman " OR "Amazonian woman" ia used collaquially in modern days to represent strong built woman. Thus the name.
