They usually include in the rental fee itself. You can check the difference by yourself - try dropping off in the same pickup location and different location.

Also cost is depends on distance and location.

did from washingston state to las vegas using Avis.. Avis shown the total amount upfront, (i have head it used to have hidden charges for number of miles at the time of drop off) but in my case didn't pay anything extra.  Hertz, enterprise may be different emo. with avis the experience was smooth.

if you have any discount coupon codes from employer it will save you, also check costco travel for price.
