manager level lot of headache

leads and architects will get more money..  less responsibility of deliverables compared to manger  ... easy to search new job as tech knowledge is in your hand un like manager.

Depends on skill, communication skills, people skills and social skills. Most importantly there should be an opportunity in your organization. 
During 1:1s make your intentions know about MGR position.

Management looks fun when we start as developers. But these days, Engineers are being paid more than Managers and better to pursue Technial Career path unless you have real passion to lead people and deliver projects.
