employers / vendors are using it to validate to weed out the fake profiles. They can clearly see when that account is created and how long back it was updated.

well.. there are many benefits..  atleast he gets validated and not get rejected for absence of LinkedIn profile. It is still a tool to sell yourself.. there are many recruiters hunting for the right candidate who fits the job profile... recruiters i mean ..not the desi 12th pass offshore recruiters..
