I am not sold on 529 as well. Our money is stuck if we decide to go back to India. If we are sure of kids college education here, its good. But even then I read that it cannot be used to all types of tuition fees. And on top of it, financial aid will be dificult.

if you have some much of money already , worry about it . otherwise 401k, Roth and 529..
