HSA is cheaper for you. You are paying an additional $200 per month for PPO. Total $2400 per year. So you are paying an additional $1150 for HSA as deductible.

My experience with HSA has been decent. Never had big problems. However if you need speciality care, its better to go with PPO so that you can choose who you want to be treated by.

Problem with PPO is getting appointments. Its not easy to get quicker appointments with specialists. They take time.

Yeah, there is a specialist appt for my kid so don't know how much that will be with HSA

If you have really young kids and needs specialists appointment go with PPO. You dont have to constantly think about hospital bill and focus on the health.

Unfortunately the health system in this country is screwed. Even after paying so much money, we dont get proper treatment and have to always worry about bills.

If one travels frequently to India, HSA is actually worth

get the treatment done in India and claim those bills for HSA reimbursement and also have minimal dependency on $hithole medical process in US

let say i have a 1000$ dental issue plus some otehr chronic issues, club them together and go to India, visit family and come back claim the medicals bills here

it is faster as well to get things done in India than here

HSA is 260 per pay check

PPO will be 450 per pay check

Is it bi weekly or bi monthly? assuming 24 paychecks, you are paying 190 more per paycheck * 24 = 4560 ..( or *26 times if it is biweekly)  for PPO your individual deducitble is 1150 more per person and 1600 more per family .. so it really doesnt make a difference which plan you go with .. Whats your max out of pocket for both ?

with HSA , you can actually open a HSA account. Some employers will give you money for opening HSA and its tax free and you can use them for medical expenses forever .. My opinion, HSA is better for you

Yeah bro, only problem with HSA is the doctor visits are expensive, with PPO plan the copay is 20$ but for the HSA it is higher

out of pocket max for HSA is 7400 for family and 3700 for individual

ppo Comes to 2800/8400

Can we open HSA account by ourselves? and what documents do we need?

Do we have to be enrolled in high deductible plan before setting up HSA account for a proof?

which bank is best for HSA account, if employer is not offering one?
