With only talk of the new capital doing the rounds at the expense of everything else, Naidu seems to be making the same mistake of putting all the eggs in one basket.

Having focused only on Hyderabad to the exclusion of every other city, we have paid dearly for it!

Now by focusing once again only on the Krishna-Guntur belt, Naidu is once again in danger of isolating the other areas of the State.

To date, no concrete proposals have been announced for Rayalaseema.

Just because Naidu, YSR and Kiran Kumar Reddy all happened to hail from Rayalaseema is no excuse for putting the area on the back burner.

The conditions cited by Telangana for its lack of development also exist in Srikakulam, Rayalaseema, and Vizianagaram etc. Now at least, development should take place in such a manner that justice is done to all regions of Andhra Pradesh.

A world-class capital in Vijayawada and poverty in Srikakulam or Dharmavaram! What do we gain? And it only breeds conditions that politicians exploit to their personal benefit.

YSRCP leader, Mysoora Reddy says, “Rayalaseema people are feeling belittled by government’s undue concentration on the capital region. Discontent is brewing as Naidu’s several promises to the region remain only on the paper. Kurnool has been ruled out for capital. Huge investments, major institutions are being earmarked for other regions.”

Dangerous signs indeed!
