Records 9.9% growth in first year of its formation

The Telangana State, which has completed one year of its formation this month, has registered a remarkable 9.9 per cent growth for the year 2014-15 over the previous year in its economy at current prices.

The Gross State Domestic Product has reached to Rs 4,30,599 crore, as against the previous year GSDP of Rs 3,91,751 crore.

In terms of constant (2004-05) prices, the growth rate of the State is pegged at 5.3 per cent.

This was revealed by Directorate of Economics and Statistics which will release a publication named as “Economy in Brief – Telangana State, 2015”, on the occasion of Statistics Day on June 29.

This is the first publication on this subject after formation of the new State. The contents of this publication, at a glance, include functioning of administrative units in the State, population, economic profile, State Budget, agriculture and industrial scenario, communications and banking facilities, comparative statistics of districts and certain major States.

The Finance Department prepares a macroeconomic frame work statement and fiscal policy statement every year based on the SDP estimates for placing before the Legislature during Budget sessions as a part of Telangana Fiscal Responsibility and Budget Management (FRBM) Act, 2005.

According to the officials, the Telangana State stood in first position in the productivity of soyabean in the country and stands second position in paddy, maize and groundnut, third position in Bengal gram, sugarcane and sunflower. The State stood in second position in the production of Maize and third position in the production of Cotton and Sunflower in the country, in third position in area of cotton and fourth position in the area of Sunflower in the country.

On comparison with southern States, the Telangana State stood first in the production of onions, and also second in the productivity of mango, lemon, guava and bhendi. This initiative has been taken by Department of Economics and Statistics on the occasion of “Statistics Day”, to be celebrated June 29, which is being observed since 2007 to mark the birth anniversary of late Prof PC Mahalanobis.

In India, the first Statistics day was celebrated in the year 2007. To make concerted and focused efforts throughout the year to fill up the data gaps for improvement and timeliness of quality of data, a theme concept was adopted from the year 2009 and selected “Price Statistics” for the 3rd Statistics Day. This year’s Statistics Day is ninth in series with the theme ‘Social Development’ in which health, education, poverty, employment, social backwardness, housing and environment are covered. On the eve of Statistics day every year, the DE&S conducts the celebrations by way of conducting Seminars, conferences on the theme organized duly involving various Departments and Non-Governmental Organisations associated with the selected theme all over the state.

This year, the Directorate of Economics& Statistics releases the important Statistical publications “Economy in Brief”, GSDP of Telangana State 2014-15, Horticulture Statistics 2013-14, and Agriculture Statistics at a Glance 2013-14, which are useful to the policy makers, administrators, researchers etc.

కొత్తగా ఏర్పడిన తెలంగాణ రాష్ట్రంలో తలసరి ఆదాయం గణనీయంగా పెరిగింది. ప్రస్తుత ధరల ఆధారంగా పరిశీలిస్తే 2013-14లో తలసరి ఆదాయం రూ.95,361 ఉండగా 2014-15లో ఏకంగా రూ.1,03,899కు పెరిగింది. అంటే ఏడాదిలో తలసరి ఆదాయం రూ.8,538 పెరిగిందన్నమాట. తెలంగాణ ప్రజల ఉద్యోగ, ఉపాధి అవకాశాలు వేగంగా పెరుగుతున్నాయనేందుకు ఇదే నిదర్శనం. ఇదే విధంగా స్థూల రాష్ట్ర దేశీయోత్పత్తి (జీఎస్‌డీపీ)కూడా పెరిగింది. 2013-14కు గాను జీడీపీ రూ.3,91,751 కోట్లు ఉండగా 2014-15కుగాను రూ.4,30,599 కోట్లకు పెరిగింది.

అంటే ఏడాదిలో రూ.38,848 కోట్లకు పెరిగిందన్నమాట. దీంతోపాటు నికర రాష్ట్ర ఉత్పత్తికూడా ఏడాదికాలంలోనే రూ.3,46,018 కోట్లనుంచి రూ.3,80,066 కోట్లకు.. అంటే సంవత్సరకాలంలో రూ.34,048 కోట్లకు పెరగడం విశేషం. ఇందులో ప్రధానంగా జీడీపీలో పారిశ్రామికరంగం వాటా బాగా పెరిగింది. 2013-14లో రూ.98,721 కోట్లు ఉండగా, 2014-15కు రూ.1,07,528 కోట్లకు పెరిగింది. అంటే ఈ ఒక్క రంగంలో వృద్ధి రూ.8,807 కోట్లుగా నమోదైంది. సర్వీస్ సెక్టార్‌లో కూడా ఏడాది వృద్ధి రూ.33,524 కోట్లు ఉండడమనేది మరో విశేషం. కాగా 2004-05 ధరల ఆధారంగా పరిశీలించినప్పటికీ రాష్ట్ర స్థూల దేశీయోత్పత్తి 2013-14లో 4.8 శాతం నుంచి 5.3శాతానికి పెరిగింది
