The reason they all test "STD-free" is because there's no reliable HPV (genital warts) test for men (as far as I know), and HSV-1/HSV-2 (oral / genital herpes) is so common (HSV-1 affects about 75-80% of the population, HSV-2 affects about 1 in 4 women and 1 in 5 men), that they don't include it on the standard STD screening.

The standard STD screening mostly screens out those STDs that are fatal (HIV) or treatable (gonorrhea, syphilis, chlamydia, etc., etc., etc.).

(Those of you that are sexually active, when you get STD tested (and you should), you may want to ask for the HSV-1/HSV-2 tests to be included to make sure you're not a passive carrier, as something like 50% of people with HSV have no idea.)
