Malli Malli

Star cast: Skanda, Kalyan, Sachin Kedkar, Venu Madhav and others

Director: late Raj Adithya

Music: SS Thomas

Release date: 21 March 2009

The film Malli Malli is directed by Raj Adithya of Pourudu fame. But he shocked everyone on the day of the release of his new film by committing suicide.

Story:

Nandu (Skanda) is the son of a poor painter. Nandu has to take care of his widowed mother and sister. He manages to complete his graduation with great difficulty. Madhu (Kalyani) is the daughter of a rich businessman Satya (Sachin Kedkar).Nandu falls in love with Madhu. After the death of his wife, Satya takes up social work. Nandu is impressed with the work of Satya.Satya’s work and preaching impress Nandu very much and he tries to come out of his depression. Nandu realizes that he has this supernatural power of predicting the events that are set to unfold the next day.Nandu gets the premonition that Satya is going to be killed the next day. Who plotted Sarya’s murder? Is it his brother Ganga or is it someone else? This is the suspense that unfolds on the screen during the climax. The film ends on the predictable note of the hero and heroine coming together in the climax.

Performance:

Skanda is a newcomer and he has miles to go before he can prove himself as an actor. Kalyani looks good but her role is restricted to shaking legs in a couple of songs. Sachin Kedkar is average.Venu Madhav, MS Narayana and Bharat manage to entertain to some extent with their comedy. But the repetitive comedy act is not exactly funny. The technical departments have done a below average job. The poor story and the shoddy screenplay make watching the film a painful exercise.

It is surprising that Raj Adithya, who made a mark with the film ‘Pourdu’ could come up with such a lackluster film?

The title says ‘Malli Malli’, forget malli, malli, watching the film even once will seem like a big torture.
